`delete`

delete — removes a history from memory only.

Syntax

(delete pattern)

pattern: The name of one or more (using a globbing pattern) histories previously defined by the history command. When this parameter is not specified, the default is *, to include all histories.

t (true) if successful, otherwise

(error "No history matching pattern")

This command removes all memory associated with a given history, but does not remove any files on disk. It flushes the history to disk.

This command corresponds to the Cogent C API function HI_Delete and the hist_delete dynamic library function.
